Character Sheet: Darla

Darla is really becoming a big part of my personal mythos. I think there's something very cute and sweet about characters that aren't action heros or perfect princesses. For every hip, shiny sparkledog lounging around with their ipod, surely there is a mama sparkledog folding laundry, or a grizzled old gloomdog fixing his truck by the side of the road. Darla is the poster child for those unseen, unappreciated characters. She is humble and kind, she could totally be your mom, she doesn't notice or care that her cufflinks are out of fashion, and she does her regular everyday job with special, exceptional pride. That, I think, is beautiful.

If Norman Rockwell and Lisa Frank had a baby, Darla would be that baby. Or me, maybe I was the baby?
